As a QUT student you can study for one or two semesters at an overseas university and earn credit towards your degree through the QUT Student Exchange Program.

The Student Exchange Program is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, providing students an excellent opportunity to learn about different cultures, develop an international network and enhance career opportunities.

To be eligible for the QUT Exchange Program, you need:
  • current enrolment in a coursework program at QUT;
  • undergraduate students must have completed at least 96 credit points at the time of application, and postgraduate students must have completed 48 credit points at the time of departure;
  • GPA (cumulative) of at least 4.5 in your current QUT course;
  • at least one semester (full-time load) still to complete on returning to QUT;
  • ability to be self-sufficient financially for the exchange period. Tuition fees at the host institution are waived, but students are required to pay travel and living expenses.

The ideal time to go on exchange is during your second semester of your second year, or first semester of your third year (undergraduate), or second semester (postgraduate).  International students are not able to go on exchange in their final semester.

Many of QUT's exchange agreements are established for undergraduate student exchange only. However, some faculties have entered into exchange agreements that include or focus specifically on postgraduate coursework exchanges. Please refer to our list of partner institutions.

If you require further information about the partner institutions, please drop by the Exchange Office, Level 3 O Block Podium, Gardens Point (Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm).  Alternatively, phone 3138 1217 to arrange an appropriate time to consult with the exchange staff.
